The 20-inch Front Wheel for G Line represents the biggest structural shift in Brompton's history. Moving away from the traditional 16-inch (349mm) standard, this wheel is built to handle gravel, light trails, and the increased stresses of hydraulic disc braking.
Product Specifications: G Line Front Wheel
This wheel is specifically engineered for the G Line's wider fork spacing and disc-only requirements.

Detailed Component Breakdown
1. The Rim: Wider and Tougher
Unlike the narrow rims on the C or P Line, the G Line rim features a wider internal profile. This is designed to support high-volume tyres (up to 50mm or 2.1 inches wide) at lower pressures, providing the "float" needed for off-road riding. It is tubeless-ready, meaning you can ditch inner tubes to reduce weight and prevent "snake-bite" punctures.
2. The Hub: Moving to the Standard
For the first time, Brompton has adopted a 100mm front hub spacing. This is a global cycling standard, making the wheel significantly more stable than the narrow 74mm hubs found on 16-inch Bromptons.
Bearings: Uses premium sealed cartridge bearings for longevity and easy replacement.
Disc Mount: Features the Shimano Center Lock interface for the 140mm rotor.
3. Lacing Pattern
To counteract the twisting forces of disc braking, the wheel uses a 2-cross lacing pattern with 28 spokes. This provides much higher lateral stiffness and durability compared to the radial lacing often seen on smaller Brompton front wheels.
Visual References & Identification
1. The Hub Profile
Look for the splined "star" interface on the non-drive side. This is where the Center Lock rotor attaches. There are no rim-brake tracks on the side of the rim; the entire wheel is matte or anodized black from edge to edge.
2. The Valve Hole
The rim is typically drilled for a Presta valve. If you are using tubeless tyres, you will see a dedicated tubeless valve stem with a locking nut at the base.
3. Quick Release / Thru-Bolt
The G Line front wheel utilizes a dedicated hex-head skewer for security and weight saving, rather than a traditional mountain bike Quick Release lever.
Compatibility Warning
[!CAUTION]
This wheel is strictly for the G Line.
It will not fit A, C, P, or T Line forks (which are 74mm wide).
It cannot be used with rim brakes (there is no braking surface on the rim).
Maintenance Tips
Truing: Because of the disc brakes, wheel trueness is vital. Even a small wobble can cause the rotor to rub against the brake pads.
Cleaning: When cleaning the wheel, never spray degreaser or oil near the center of the hub to avoid contaminating the disc rotor.
Spoke Tension: Check spoke tension after the first 200km of gravel riding, as the larger circumference and rougher terrain can cause initial settling.

Visual Identification Guide:
406mm Rim Profile: You will notice a significantly larger and wider rim compared to the traditional 16-inch (349mm) Brompton wheels. There is no silver braking track on the sidewall because the wheel is disc-brake specific; the entire rim is finished in a uniform matte or anodized black.
Center Lock Hub: At the center of the wheel, you can see the splined "star" interface used to mount the brake rotor. This hub features a 100mm width, making it appear much wider and more robust than the narrow 74mm hubs found on other Brompton models.
Cross-Lacing Spokes: Note the 2-cross lacing pattern of the spokes. This design is engineered to handle the high torque generated by the hydraulic disc brake system, ensuring the wheel remains stiff and durable under heavy braking.
Presta Valve Hole: The rim is drilled for a Presta (thin) valve. This is the standard for high-performance and tubeless-ready setups, allowing for a more secure seal when running without inner tubes.
Installation Pro-Tip:
When mounting the wheel, ensure the Center Lock rotor is properly torqued to 40 Nm. Since this is a disc brake system, avoid touching the rotor or the braking surface of the rim with oily fingers, as this can lead to brake squeal or reduced stopping power.
